Prisoner sparks manhunt after escape from courthouse
A MANHUNT has been launched for a prisoner who escaped from a courthouse yesterday. The inmate, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, escaped from custody in Clondalkin in west Dublin while he was being transported to the nearby Wheatfield Prison.
The Irish Prison Service immediately informed An Garda Síochána and searches were launched straight away.
A spokesman for the Irish Prison Service confirmed the escape last night.
A spokesman for An Garda Síochána said that it would not be issuing a statement on the incident, adding that appeals are not issued in relation to people who are unlawfully at large.
