Brendan vows to return after his X Factor exit

-

HE departed The X Factor on Saturday, having failed to attract enough votes – but Galway man Brendan Murray has vowed to fans that he’ll ‘be back’.

The 22-year-old Galway man previously represented Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest semi-final in Ukraine in 2017, and was a member of boyband Hometown for two years from 2014.

Unfortunately for Murray, on Saturday night, he was again unable to make it through to the final of The X Factor.

Following his performance of Snow Patrol’s Run and ABBA’s I Have A Dream, Murray posted on social media that he was ‘very happy with that reaction’.

But he failed to captivate viewers enough to qualify for the December 2 final. Murray had been mentored by One Direction star Louis Tomlinson and had been expected to progress beyond Saturday’s semi-final.

Moments after receiving the bad news Brendan told the show’s host, Dermot O’Leary, that he was delighted to have competed. ‘This has been the best experience of my life, I want to thank everyone who voted for me every week, thank you Louis for taking me on,’ said Brendan.

Last night Brendan, pictured centre with Dermot and Louis, thanked his supporters in a tweet and told them ‘I’ll be back’.

In 2014 Brendan was in boyband Hometown, which was set up by Louis Walsh but the group split up two years later.

Singer Danny Tetley, who sang Shirley Bassey’s This Is My Life, has also eliminated from The X Factor, which continues on Virgin Media One next Saturday.
