I’m not dead yet! Olivia hits out at heartless web rumours
OLIVIA Newton-John has been forced to deny that she has just weeks to live after heartless rumours were spread online.
The 70-year-old singer and actress, who starred in the hit film Grease, reassured fans in a short video published on social media.
In a clip posted to her Twitter account, the Australian actress said: ‘I just want to say that the rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated, to quote a very famous quote.
‘I’m doing great and I want to wish all of you the happiest, healthiest 2019 that’s possible and thank you all for your wonderful support for me and for my Olivia Newton-John cancer wellness centre in Melbourne, Australia.’
Ms Newton-John looked healthy and happy despite reports by US website Radar Online that she was ‘clinging on to life’.
The story was picked up by Australian publications, prompting fans to bombard the actress with messages.
In September, Ms Newton-John revealed she had cancer for the third time in three decades as her breast cancer had spread to her spine.
She said at the time: ‘I’m one of millions in this fight. I shouldn’t say fight… in this journey.’
Ms Newton-John, who has a 32year-old daughter, first had breast cancer diagnosed in 1992 and has been a staunch campaigner for cancer treatment and research ever since.
The star, who once represented Britain in the Eurovision Song Contest, was born in Cambridge and moved to Australia in 1954 at the age of six.
Her long career in the US saw her collect four Grammy awards. She is estimated to have sold more than 100million records worldwide. Her biggest hits included Physical in 1981.
