‘Deduct Leeds points’

- OLIVER TODD

BRISTOL CITY’S owner is leading calls for Leeds to be deducted points over the spying scandal. Steve Lansdown says more than a fine is needed to stop the behaviour of Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa, who has admitted spying on every other Championship side this season. The FA and EFL will launch a joint investigation into Bielsa after the Argentine publicly confessed to widespread spying. Leeds face the threat of a points deduction or fine — and Lansdown said: ‘The only thing that makes sense, if I’m honest, is a points deduction. They ought to seriously consider it, but I don’t think that will happen as I don’t think the EFL will be strong enough.’ Speaking on BBC Points West, he added: ‘A fine would go some way towards showing it’s not acceptable. Whatever happens we mustn’t condone it.’ Leeds face Stoke today and their manager Nathan Jones said: ‘I’d invite him to watch our training sessions if he wanted to come.’
