ZAHA’S EXTRA BAN FOR MOCKING MARRINER
CRYSTAL PALACE winger Wilfried Zaha has been given an extra one-match ban for improper conduct after he was sent off for sarcastically clapping referee Andre Marriner last week. Zaha applauded after Marriner booked him for squaring up to James Ward-Prowse in the closing stages of the 1-1 Premier League draw at Southampton. He was shown a second yellow card for that but continued to mock the official after his dismissal. Zaha was also fined £10,000 by the FA after an improper conduct hearing yesterday. The 26-year-old will be available for Palace’s Premier League clash with West Ham at Selhurst Park tomorrow because he has until next week to decide whether to appeal. He served his initial one-match ban in the 2-0 win over Fulham last Saturday and can serve the additional one in Palace’s fifth-round FA Cup tie against Doncaster a week on Sunday. Meanwhile, Brighton striker Florin Andone has been charged with violent conduct after catching Sam Field with his left elbow in Wednesday’s FA Cup win at West Brom. Referee Paul Tierney took no action at the time.
