Stellar stuff! It’s our Shooting Star Aisling

- Irish Daily Mail Reporter

IRISH actress Aisling Franciosi picked up her European rising star award at the prestigious Berlin International Film Festival yesterday.

The 25-year-old actress, who won a Best Supporting Actress Ifta playing Jamie Dornan’s besotted babysitter in The Fall, was one of ten rising talents selected for Europe’s Shooting Stars award this year.

Ms Franciosi follows in the footsteps of Domhnall Gleeson and Ruth Negga, who both made the Shooting Stars list in the past, along with the likes of Alicia Vikander and James Bond actor Daniel Craig.

The actress was recently seen in the film The Nightingale. She played Gabriel Byrne’s daughter Phoebe in the BBC drama series, Quirke.

She also appeared in two series of Game Of Thrones as Lyanna Stark.

The striking brunette was born in Italy and raised in Ireland.

She studied French and Spanish at Trinity College Dublin.

Yesterday she joined her fellow Shooting Star recipients at the premiere of Oscar-nominated film Vice as part of the Berlin Film Festival.

On the red carpet, she donned a silver mesh dress with a daring thigh-high split and wore her brunette locks swept back over her shoulders.

When selected for the accolade in December, the actress said: ‘I am so thrilled and consider it a great honour to be chosen as a Shooting Star. Actors I really admire have been selected as a Shooting Star in the past, so it feels a little surreal.’

Ms Franciosi is said to have impressed the jury with her ‘great acting range and superb instincts’ in The Nightingale.
