Man dies after suspected ‘one punch’ attack

A MAN has died after being assaulted outside a fast food restaurant over the weekend.

The incident happened in Killorglin, Co. Kerry at around 2.20am on Sunday.

The victim, named locally as Stephen O’Connor, was in his 30s and from Glencar.

Mr O’Connor had been in a critical condition on life support at Cork University Hospital following the attack.

Gardaí say the results of the post mortem will determine the course of the investigat­ion. It is understood that gardaí suspect he may have been the victim of a one-punch attack by a lone assailant.

An incident room has been set up at Killorglin Garda Station.

Gardaí believe a large number of people were in the area when the incident happened, and have appealed for taxi drivers or motorists with dashcam footage.
