PEOPLE living with rare diseases will soon have access to specialists beyond Irish shores thanks to a new EU initiative.
Avril Daly, vice-president of EURORDIS-Rare Diseases Europe, is urging sufferers to ask their doctor about European Reference Networks, a virtual panel of experts which can review Irish cases.
The ERN is one of a number of issues which will be discussed at Rare Diseases Ireland’s conference in Dublin to mark the 12th international day on February 28.
Delegates are also expected to urge the Government to review and renew the National Rare Disease Plan which expired last December.
Register for the conference at rdi.ie/rdd-2019.
