An All-Ireland saint

-

IT could all have ended so differently. During a healing Mass in which prayers were offered for the sick, former All-Ireland-winner Donal Reid, who played on the Donegal football team that beat Dublin in 1992, noticed that an elderly woman’s coat had gone on fire after she brushed against a candle.

He leapt from four rows away and beat the flames out with his bare hands, suffering burns in the process.

He says he will be fine – a certainty, surely, when a few prayers are offered up for this quick-thinking hero at next Monday’s healing Mass.
