Life on Mars is over for rover
AFTER 15 years roaming the red planet’s surface, Nasa’s longestserving Mars rover, Opportunity, right, has been declared dead.
The six-wheeled vehicle, right, was built to operate for just three months, but it kept going until it was killed by a dust storm eight months ago. Flight controllers sent a final series of recovery commands on Tuesday night, accompanied by one last wakeup song – Billie Holiday’s I’ll Be Seeing You, but there was no response.
