As well as listing the values you’d like in a partner, also write your list of five ‘Must Not Haves’. Your main focus should be on what you do want, but you must be certain of your Red Flag Deal-Breakers. That means you absolutely will not date someone with those qualities.

That could be ‘I won’t tolerate a man who lies’ or ‘I won’t date a woman with young children’. Red Flags protect you from getting hurt and allow you to say: ‘This isn’t going to work for me.’ You will understand early on that the relationship can only be short-term.
