OYSTON OUSTED AT BLACKPOOL AS COURT STEPS IN

-

NEWCASTLE owner Mike Ashley has sold land next to St James’ Park. Strawberry Place behind the Gallowgate End was the only feasible site to increase the capacity of 52,354. Ashley acquired the land from the club nine years ago, but has now sold it to developers for £9m.

THE Premier League will meet the Department of Transport in the next month to try and ease the burden of train fares on football fans. The talks are designed to ensure that fans do not have to alter tickets or pay too much if games are rescheduled.

BLACKPOOL owner Owen Oyston was forced to relinquish control of the club last night as courtappointed receivers took over. It ends a tumultuous three-decade reign for the 85-year-old, with the EFL set to rule on March 6 on a potential 12-point deduction for entering receivership. A Blackpool Supporters’ Trust spokesman said: ‘It’s a momentous day. It’s more important than promotion to the Premier League.’
