GLEESON RETURNS

- By MICHEAL CLIFFORD

AUSTIN Gleeson is set to make his first start for Waterford this season tomorrow night. Gleeson is named on the Déise team that will take on Carlow at Fraher Field in Division 1B, with Jamie Barron and Colin Dunford also featuring. Meanwhile, Limerick full-back Mike Casey will not feature in this Sunday’s clash with Kilkenny. Casey is the only member of last August’s Liam MacCarthy Cup-winning team that has yet to make an appearance for the Treaty men this season as he continues his battle to recover from injury. Also ruled out of Sunday’s game at Nowlan Park are William O’Donoghue, David Reidy, Paul Browne and Richie McCarthy. Player of the year Cian Lynch and Seamus Flanagan missed the win over Tipperary but are primed to start along with young hurler of the year Kyle Hayes. Meanwhile, Cork hurler Declan Dalton is facing a lengthy period on the sidelines after undergoing knee surgery. WATERFORD (SH v Carlow): B Nolan; S McNulty, C Prunty, N Connors; J Henley, M Walsh, A Gleeson; J Barron, C Dunford; J Prendergast, M Kearney, DJ Foran; T Ryan, Stephen Bennett, Shane Bennett.
