Women ‘verbally abused’

-

THE HSE outlined cases in Court in which women had been verbally abused for seeking an abortion, or in which attempts were made to stop them.

Helen Deely, of the HSE’s Sexual Health Crisis Pregnancy unit, said that on January 22, the HSE received a call from a woman who was ‘deeply upset’ after attending Eamonn Murphy’s premises for a scan. On January 30, a caller to the HSE helpline said she was verbally abused on the phone. The man on the phone had key details about the woman’s recent termination. ‘It is clear the defendant is contacting women who have had an unplanned pregnancy.’
