CLARKE SHOWS GAME’S REALITY

-

THE courage and honesty of Jamie Clarke this week shone like a pair of beacons. The Armagh forward stated bluntly that players are being ‘advised’ to feign injury in order to get rivals sent off. In Clarke’s case, an arm thrown back in order to fend off a defender resulted in him getting sent off. He explained himself. ‘I tackled him and I was kind of like, “Get up off the ground”, because I had hit him in the chest…’ We all know it is sensible to side with Clarke (right). When did forwards in the game of Gaelic football start beating up on defenders? It’s not in their heads, and not even remotely in their DNA.
