NO PANIC YET

Treaty cruise past Cats but Cody is calm

- PHILIP LANIGAN

KILKENNY manager Brian Cody wasn’t pressing the panic button after the county’s second-successive defeat in Division 1A of the Allianz Hurling League, losing to Limerick 2-18 to 0-15.

Despite watching his team being comprehensively outplayed by the All-Ireland champions, who won a first League game at Nowlan Park since 1997, Cody wasn’t overly concerned.

‘We set a very good tone from the start,’ Cody said. ‘I’m not trying to make it sound better for ourselves than it is — I could go away thinking, “this is crazy… this is shocking” — but it’s not. It’s February. We’re playing the best team in the country. There’s plenty to learn from it.’

An Aidan Nolan winner completed a Wexford comeback against 14-man Tipperary while Galway beat Dublin 0-20 to 1-11 at Pearse Stadium.
