‘Intimidation’ alleged in Omagh bomb families’ case

-

REPRESENTATIVES of the Omagh bomb victims’ families have been subjected to ‘intimidation and threats’ while serving legal papers on the alleged bombers, the High Court has heard.

Barrister John O’Donnell also complained that former Real IRA leader Michael McKevitt, has tried to delay the families’ lawsuit against him ‘at every turn’. He asked the court to put ‘a bit of pressure’ on McKevitt to deal with the case.

The families of the 29 people killed in the August 1998 Real IRA attack are trying to have four alleged bombers declared bankrupt after they failed to pay a £1.6million (€1.83million) judgment awarded to the families in Belfast in 2009.

The case to recover the assets has moved to Dublin because the men’s property and bank accounts are in the Republic.
