doing a disservice to the team.’

And Quinn believes there isn’t a direct link between the funding and what Gavin’s men are achieving.

‘I wouldn’t see a direct connection between the team right now and what they are doing and what they are delivering and those conversations. There is a gap to analyse the football a little bit.

‘It’s obviously something that the group can’t control — other people talking about it. But will they be let enjoy it.

‘The players themselves, anyone connected with the group will absolutely enjoy it if they are fortunate enough to come through it.’

Rather than money, Quinn believes the single biggest factor behind Dublin’s success this decade has been the culture of excellence created by Pat Gilroy and fostered and built upon by Gavin.

And, if Dublin are to get over the line against Kerry on Sunday, Quinn, is expecting a close encounter, reckons that his St Vincent’s club-mate Diarmuid Connolly will have a significant role to play off the bench.

‘I think he will play a part on Sunday,’ Quinn said.

‘I expect it to be tight and it will come down to the last 15 minutes.

‘If Dublin are to get over the line, they are going to need to rely on their squad as they have done in nearly every final.

‘Ultimately when the game is in the balance, Connolly is a guy you want on the pitch, with the ball in his hands.

‘There is a level of trust with the other players and with management that he will make a good decision and he will have a positive impact.

‘If a tight game transpires, you will see him out there.’
