Third level gets a €100m boost

ALMOST €100million is to be invested in five building projects in higher education institutio­ns.

The cash injection by the Department of Education is part of the Project Ireland 2040 plans.

The funds, to support up to 14,000 new student places, will go to projects including a €6.6millon extension to the IT Sligo Central Campus Project; a €15million investment in NUI Galway’s Learning Commons Project; and a €25million investment in UCD’s Future Campus Project. UCC’s Cork University Business School Project and Maynooth University’s Technology Society and Innovation Building will both get a €25million boost.
