Garda statement last night

-

‘THIS is a brutal and savage attack on a child and is completely unacceptable in any normal democratic society,’ gardaí said in a statement last night. ‘The level of violence is shocking and the investigation into the murder of Keane [Mulready] is being co-ordinated from Drogheda Garda Station.

‘It is important to remember that Keane was a child, a young boy, trying to find his way in life. He has now lost his life and his family have lost their loved son and brother.’

When last seen by his family in Drogheda, Co. Louth, last Sunday, Keane was wearing a navy Hugo Boss tracksuit, black Hugo Boss runners with a brown sole and black laces, a red/orange Canada Goose jacket and a Gucci hat.

Gardaí responded to a 999 call the following day at 9.55pm, the statement said, adding that a bag containing human remains was found at Moatview Drive, Priorswood, Dublin 17. A black Puma sports bag was recovered which contained partial human remains.

At 1.30am yesterday, gardaí attended the scene of a burning vehicle at Trinity Terrace, Dublin 3, the statement read. Further partial human remains were recovered from this vehicle.

A number of searches have been carried out in the Drogheda area, the statement added, and gardaí urged anyone with information about Keane’s last movements to come forward. They also appealed for information about a blue Volvo S40, bearing false registration plates of 141 MO 1925, which was set on fire at Trinity Terrace at around 1.30am yesterday.
