CORONAVIRUS BULLETIN
÷PHARMACY PRESCRIPTIONS
PURE Pharmacy in Dublin is to provide a free delivery service for prescriptions in the Dublin area – within a 3km radius – and on shop orders greater than €10. David Beggs, MD and owner of Pure Pharmacy, said: ‘To help during this outbreak we have hired Pure delivery drivers in order to provide a service directly to your door. We would ask anyone wishing to avail of our delivery service to contact our temporary call centre on 042 9331344 where our pharmacy staff will process your requests. ‘We believe that this service will not only be beneficial to customers who are infirm or who are self-isolating, but it also benefits our staff, in terms of service, within our stores. This way, we believe everyone wins.’
÷PUBLIC TRANSPORT
THE National Transport Authority says public transport will run as normal with regular updates to be provided over the coming days. It said: ‘Public transport operators have communicated the public health advice on respiratory etiquette and hand hygiene to passengers and staff. We are aware of the HSE advice to practise social distancing and passengers are asked to be mindful of this.’
÷ POST OFFICES
POST Offices will remain open with services operating as normal. Mails, parcel collection and delivery services will operate as normal except to countries where services are suspended – currently China and Mongolia. The HSE advises there is no evidence of a risk of contracting the virus that causes Covid-19 by handling money, mails or parcels.
÷ORGAN DONATIONS
THE Irish Kidney Association has decided not to proceed with Organ Donor Awareness Week 2020 (March 28 to April 4) in response to the outbreak of coronavirus. Mark Murphy, chief executive, said: ‘We may run the campaign later in the year, but this is simply the wrong time to ask the public to consider organ donation.’
