THERE’S no shortage of fun anecdotes in this one-off, as you’d expect of a history of a genre that has given us such figures as Ozzy Osbourne and Bruce Dickinson. It starts, though, with a solid fact – the first recorded use of the term ‘heavy metal’ in music: for Steppenwolf’s Born To Be Wild, in 1968.
