CHERRIES’ TRAINING GROUND IS OFF LIMITS BUT WOLVES ARE BACK

- By ADRIAN KAJUMBA

BOURNEMOUTH’S training ground will remain closed down until next Monday at the earliest following the coronavirus outbreak. The Cherries shut their football facilities after goalkeeper Artur Boruc and four members of their first team staff displayed symptoms of the virus. The five employees are all selfisolating though they have not tested positive and club doctors are confident their symptoms are not serious. Closure of their HQ is part of the precautionary measures Bournemouth have introduced, which have included a deep clean of their training facilities. Players have been given programmes to work on away from the club to maintain their fitness during football’s enforced break which is currently due to run until April 4. The only exceptions will be made for Bournemouth’s injured players who are undergoing rehab. Meanwhile, Wolves players will resume full training from today even though they have no knowledge of when they will play again. Coach Nuno Espírito Santo (right) and his squad will be working as normal at their Compton training base until further notice, although all ‘non-essential’ staff will stay away. Other clubs have given their players a break from training sessions but Nuno has chosen to press ahead. Wolves were one of the last clubs to play a competitive game before most of the European game shut down amid the coronavirus crisis – a 1-1 draw at Olympiacos last Thursday in the Europa League, the staging of which was heavily criticised by Nuno. The entire squad were expected to report for duty, with wide player Jonny and midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White now recovered from ankle injuries.
