TYSON FURY becomes WBA, IBF and WBO world heavyweight champion by beating Wladimir Klitschko by unanimous decision in Dusseldorf.
JUNE 24, 2016
HIS rematch with Klitschko, set for July in Manchester, is called off with Fury citing an ankle injury. On the same day he and cousin Hughie are charged by UK Anti-Doping with presence of a banned substance — nandrolone — from a sample taken in February 2015. Both deny the charge.
AUGUST 4, 2016
UKAD say they have lifted provisional suspensions on the Furys while the charges are heard.
SEPTEMBER 23, 2016
THE Klitschko rematch, now set for October, is postponed again after Fury is declared ‘medically unfit’. It is reported he has failed a test for cocaine.
OCTOBER 4, 2016
FURY says he is being treated for depression and has been ‘going through a lot of personal demons, trying to shake them off’.
OCTOBER 12, 2016
HE VACATES his WBO and WBA titles to focus on his recovery. A day later, the British Boxing Board of Control suspend his licence.
SEPTEMBER 18, 2017
FURY challenges UKAD to ban him or reinstate his licence, saying: ‘How long must I be held up and kept out of action? It’s been 15 months since I’ve been under investigation. You’re keeping an innocent man from fulfilling his destiny and from providing for his family.’

UKAD announce they will investigate claims by Lancashire farmer Martin Carefoot that he lied about supplying Fury with wild boar in order to aid the boxer’s defence against the doping charges from 2016.
