THEY are one of the world’s most successful pop acts, known for their positive messages for young girls.
But some of the members of Little Mix have now admitted they struggled so much with body-image issues at the start of their careers that they considered cosmetic surgery.
Leigh-Anne Pinnock, 28, said a few of them debated having their noses altered when they first found fame, while Jade Thirlwall, 27, said she wanted to get a boob job.
‘I [always] felt like a boy next to everyone [else]. I didn’t have a very womanly shape and I’ve got no t***,’ Ms Thirlwall told Cosmopolitan magazine. ‘I’ve kind of grown into myself a little bit now but I used to want a boob job. I [felt] I wasn’t sexy enough in the band.
‘I still have that complex now when I go on dates. I think, “Am I woman enough for someone?” – which is silly.’
Ms Pinnock said the first thing she did after the band won The X Factor in 2011 was to ‘compare myself to the other girls’.
She recalled: ‘Jade and I wanted nose jobs. I can’t believe I thought like that. I love my nose. I think it’s age as well – you just have to learn to love yourself more.’
After winning the TV competition, the band went on to have massive worldwide success, including some very impressive chart performances in the US.
Jesy Nelson, 28, who opened up about the bullying and trolling she has experienced in BBC documentary Odd One Out last year, said she ‘didn’t like one thing about myself’.
She added: ‘I will never lie and say I absolutely love myself now. There are still things I’m working on.’ Ms Nelson said she is now glad she put herself ‘in a really vulnerable place’ with making the documentary and has turned a ‘s*** experience into a positive one’.
