TDs give first preference to... burritos and burgers
JUST as politicians come and go in Leinster House, so the foodie trends of our TDs and senators are like a revolving door.
Data from online delivery service Deliveroo, reveal only one survivor, Boojum, has retained its seat from last year’s list of top orders.
Boojum’s best-selling burrito gets the vote for being the most popular take-away meal in Leinster House for the second successive year.
And all the other favourites have been ditched in a massive tastebud reshuffle. Missing from last year’s deliveries are Sprout, Eddie Rocket’s, Nando’s, Eatokyo,
Leo Burdocks, Five Guys, Little Ass Burrito Bar, Camden Rotisserie and San Pizza.
The new list has been split between orders to Leinster House and orders to Government Buildings, which includes the Department of An Taoiseach and the Department of Finance.
At Leinster House, TDs, senators and other staffers have a preference for the spicy Mexican cuisine of Boojum.
On-the-go sandwiches and wraps from
Subway are also popular in Kildare Street at second place, while burgers from both Wowburger and Bunsen come next, ahead of newcomer Tuk, which specialises in Asian Street food.
In Merrion Street, Wowburger, the self-declared ‘best burger in Dublin’ tops the poll for Government Buildings, which houses several key Government offices. Elephant & Castle, home to Dublin’s most-famous chicken wings, comes next ahead of Xian Street Food in nearby South Anne Street and Boojum.
Umi Falafel, a chain of Middle Eastern restaurants also makes the list of food favourites.
In this most volatile and unpredictable of lists, who will retain their Deliveroo seat in 2021? Food for thought, indeed.
