Bring the moon into the room
LUNAR LANDINGS
Armagh Observatory and Planetarium launched a new innovative free app which allows you to bring the moon into your home through augmented reality. It is a great way for budding astronomers to investigate craters up close, discover Apollo landing sites and explore the lunar surface – and you don’t even need to get into a rocket. The app also includes fascinating facts and educational resources. This quick explainer video shows how to bring the Moon Globe to life: https://www.youtube.com/ watch?v= uME0hYPBhHI
POP CENTRAL
Remember the satisfaction of popping bubble wrap when you were younger? Well it hasn’t changed much over the years, and the good news is – your kids will love it, too. There are lots of things you can do with the stuff, from bubble wrap runways, to art, to body-slam painting – click this link and get popping! https://www.thechaosandtheclutter.com/archives/101-things-to-do-with-bubble-wrap
FOAM PARTY
Ok, initially I was dubious of this one – but shaving foam play is a great way to keep your small children entertained. Just make sure you don’t add a razor. A good start is to get a tray, a can of sensitive shaving foam and food colouring (administer these drops yourself, do not leave this in the hands of children), and let them experiment with peaks, colour, shapes and designs. Have a towel handy. Trust me, it’s a lot easier than cleaning up poster paint and glitter. See Pinterest for more ideas.
