Gender-f luid Cara says: I am pansexual
CARA DELEVINGNE has revealed she now identifies as pansexual.
The 27-year-old model and actress, who has dated men and women, previously described herself as bisexual and gender fluid. She admitted she feared coming out to her ‘repressed’ family.
‘I always will remain, I think, pansexual,’ she told Variety magazine.
‘However one defines themselves, whether it’s “they” or “he” or “she”, I fall in love with the person – and that’s that. I’m attracted to the person.’
She added: ‘The thing is with me, I change a lot. I feel different all the time. Some days, I feel more womanly. Some days, I feel more like a man.’
Ms Delevingne said she was ‘deeply unhappy and depressed’ in her teenage years as she struggled to come out in an ‘old-fashioned, repressed English family’. But her father Charles, a wealthy West London property developer, was surprisingly accepting.
Pansexuals are sexually attracted to someone regardless of their biological sex or gender identity.
Ms Delevingne recently split from Pretty Little Liars actress Ashley Benson after nearly two years and was previously in a relationship with US singersongwriter Anne Clark, known as St Vincent, who also identifies as gender and sexually fluid. Several celebrities identify as pansexual, including US singer Miley Cyrus, UK comedian Joe Lycett – who recently temporarily changed his name to Hugo Boss – and drag queen Courtney Act.
UK Liberal Democrat MP Layla Moran revealed to the Mail in January that she prefers to be labelled as pansexual. She has had male partners but is currently dating Rosy Cobb, the party’s former head of media.
