- news@dailymail.ie By Dominique Hines

PAUL McCartney was among the celebrities marking Father’s Day by releasing personal photos yesterday.

The former Beatle, 78, paid a touching tribute to his late father, Jim, who died in 1976.

He posted a previously unpublished snap on social media of himself having dinner with his beloved father in the 1970s. It shows a young and bearded Paul smiling broadly as his dapper dad tucks into a plate of food beside him.

‘Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads out there!’ he captioned the image, which he posted on his Twitter and Instagram accounts.

Fellow rocker and Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards also paid tribute to his late father, Bert. He posted a black and white image of the pair taken in a garden in 1997. Bert died in 2002.

And Crona Byrne posted a photo with her late father Gay, captioning the picture: ‘Thinking of you today dad on the first Father’s Day without you. Xx’

TV presenter Davina McCall shared a picture of her hugging her father Andrew McCall, who has Alzheimer’s. She wrote on Instagram: ‘Alzheimer’s can’t dampen your amazing positivity. I love you with all my heart...’

And actress and writer Amy Huberman posted a hilarious photo of herself as a child with her dad Harold and older brother and fellow actor Mark, writing on the Instagram post: ‘Happy Father’s Day to be best Dad and messer I’ve ever had the pleasure of being offsprunged. Soz I ruined this nice smiley pic with my cake obsessed trance 2 year old sass.’
