COMEDY FLICK As Good As It Gets, 8pm, Sky Drama

AS romantic comedies go, this is as good as it gets. Jack Nicholson steals the show as the cantankero­us obsessive compulsive who is trying to be not so set in his ways in the name of love. Helen Hunt plays the waitress who discombobu­lates him.

PORTLAND DETECTIVE Stumptown, 9pm, Alibi

THE stories in this privateeye drama had a noirish tang at the start, but they’ve since settled into more upbeat and easygoing territory. Tonight’s case for a romantical­ly confused Dex (Marvel’s Cobie Smulders, pictured) involves her old high-school enemy as a client, and a stint posing as a substitute teacher.

GUTTER PRESS Scandalous! The Tabloid That Changed America – Storyville, 9pm, BBC4

THE reporters of the National Enquirer talk about what it was like to work at the cut-throat US ‘journalist­ic beehive’. They remember the huge expense accounts and the stories those led to, some of which have arguably altered the path of American society, and featured such figures as Donald Trump, OJ Simpson and Princess Diana.

AFTER selling his armoured truck business, Jacob paid for his old college roommates to join him on a Caribbean cruise – during which he was seasick, and vanished. Did his onboard success at gambling have anything to do with his disappeara­nce? (Sky 156, Virgin 225)

ABUSE SCANDAL Athlete A, Netflix

CLAIMS of sexual abuse at USA Gymnastics are explored in this harrowing documentar­y, which casts an unsettling light on what can be deemed acceptable to achieve success. It’s very sad to watch these adult women reflecting on the experience of their younger selves.

U.S. COPS APB, 9pm, Fox

WHEN tech billionair­e Gideon Reeves (Justin Kirk, pictured) witnesses the murder of his friend, he takes over a run-down Chicago police force and kits them out with top technology in the search for justice.

Ghostbuste­rs’ Ernie Hudson plays the sergeant whose new coffee machine ‘costs more than my house’ in a new series that puts fun first.

CRIME SOLVER Agatha Raisin, 9pm, Sky One

SKY’S frothy village mystery has become a fair alternativ­e to Midsomer Murders. It brings in some decent guest stars, too, albeit not quite of Midsomer’s level – tonight, Robert Daws (pictured) pops up as the mayor in a very personal case for Agatha as the sleuth hunts for a missing James.

EIGHTIES MOVIE Highlander, 9pm, Horror

WITH a belting soundtrack by Queen, this fantasy is a real crowd-pleaser. Christophe­r Lambert is the immortal warrior passing the time by falling in love, learning swordfight­ing from Sean Connery and chopping off heads. (Sky 317, Virgin 146)

FILM DRAMA Driveways, 10pm, Sky Premiere

GENTLE drama about an unlikely friendship. Lucas Jaye is Cody, the shy boy who bonds with Brian Dennehy’s old grump, as Cody cleans up his late aunt’s house.
