Ladies’ Day... on the home stretch
Danielle takes Galway Races title for being all dressed up with nowhere to go
IT was a surreal day at Galway races yesterday as a Co. Mayo fashionista was crowned winner of the Best Dressed competition – without having to leave home.
In a very different Ladies Day to previous years, competitors entered from the safety of their homes while the excitement was brought to life online.
Danielle Gingell from Claremorris beamed with joy when she was announced the winner of the virtual best dressed competition.
The dog groomer’s stunning monochrome look was an homage to days gone by and embodied the quirky element the judges were looking for.
Wearing a Self Portrait design, Arturo Rios headpiece, accompanied by ASOS bag, Newbridge Silverware accessories and Zara shoes, Danielle took inspiration from old Hollywood glamour to create her look.
‘Competition was fierce’
She won a two-night stay in The Galmont Hotel and Spa including dinner, champagne on arrival and spa treatments, and will be given two VIP tickets to next year’s races, plus luxury products from LanaiBlo, Instyler, Hairtalk, Trilogy and Box of Wine.
Meanwhile, Melissa Carty from Galway was awarded the Best Hat accolade after turning heads in her Caithriona King creation, accompanied by a Harper dress, ASOS bag and Penneys heels.
Speaking about the winners, Her’s Gillian Fitzpatrick said: ‘Although this year’s competition was fierce, Danielle really stood out for us judges, as a brilliantly stylish headto-toe look.’
