OPENING PREMIER LEAGUE FIXTURES
Derry City v Sligo Rovers
(Tonight, Brandywell, 5.45pm)
THE Candystripes have been pretty busy in preparing for the restart of the League, with former England Under-21 international Adam Hammill the most eye-catching signing. Rovers, meanwhile, have drafted in former Derry star, Junior, to solve their goal-scoring woes.
Verdict: Home Win
Dundalk v St Patrick’s Athletic
(Tonight, Oriel Park, 7.45pm, Live RTÉ2)
IT will be a sad occasion at Oriel Park following the passing of Harry Taaffe, known as Mr Dundalk, last week, and players will be motivated to put on a show for him. Georgie Kelly has moved to the Saints on loan, but will be unavailable against his parent club.
Verdict: Home Win
Shelbourne v Waterford
United (Tomorrow, Tolka Park, 2pm)
ALL eyes will be on former Ireland international John Sheridan (above) as he takes the Waterford reins and if the players respond to him, they might make things difficult for Shels here
Verdict: Draw
Shamrock Rovers v Finn Harps
(Tomorrow, Tallaght, 5pm)
BARRY McNamee was an astute piece of business from Ollie Horgan over the break, but the Donegal side will be up against it here and will make the long trip home with nothing to show for it.
Verdict: Home Win
Cork City v Bohemians
(Sunday, Turner’s Cross, 5pm)
NEALE Fenn’s side need to start picking up points, especially given the shortened season. Bohs’ form hasn’t been great in the pre-season friendlies, so it may be a pretty even affair.
Verdict: Draw
