€110k a day... not bad for an ex-busker, Ed!
IN HIS teenage years Ed Sheeran was either sofa surfing or busking for small change on the streets.
Now it has been revealed that the singer- songwriter earned almost €110,000 every day in 2019, making him one of the world’s highest-earning solo musicians.
Other solo high- earners include Jay-Z, P Diddy and Madonna.
Accounts released yesterday show that his company Ed Sheeran Ltd made a gross profit of just under €40million last year, equating to €109,579 a day, and he paid €7,604,768 in tax.
Multi-award winning Sheeran, 29, worth a total of
€220million, earned almost 55% more than he did in 2018, when he made 26,078,354. And over the l ast three years his gross profits totalled €96,109,550. Sheeran topped the UK albums chart with his debut + (Plus) in 2011. His second, × (Multiply) was released in 2014 and became the second-bestselling album worldwide of 2015. His third, ÷ (Divide) followed in 2017, and his Divide world tour was the highest-grossing concert tour, making €654million. Sheeran, who has sold more than 150 million records, was among the top five highest-paid solo artists of 2020, placed fourth with earnings of €54million, according to Forbes’ annual Highest Paid Celebrities list.
Top was US rapper Kanye West who made most of his €144million from his Yeezy sneakers deal with Adidas. Second was Elton John with €69million, while Ariana Grande earned €61million.
Sheeran also owns a €62million property empire, including his €4million Suffolk estate, dubbed ‘Sheeransville’. This has a recording studio, a pub and a wildlife pond.
He shares it with wife Cherry Seaborn, and their daughter Lyra Antarctica, who was born in August.
