Magic Aidan still hopes to avoid vanishing act...

- By Louise Burne news@dailymail.ie

THERE was disappointment f or young Aidan McCann on Saturday evening as he f ailed to progress to the Britain’s Got Talent finals.

Aidan, 10, from Kildare wowed the judges with his magic skills as he appeared on the show live from his bedroom.

Due to current health restrictions, the young magician was unable to travel to the UK for the semi-finals. Instead, he sent two envelopes to the BGT studios for the judges.

He asked judge David Walliams to pick a hand-drawn picture at random. It transpired, however, that the young magician had sent the same picture to the judges in a sealed envelope.

As Aidan put on a blindfold, David coloured different parts of the picture with markers.

When the picture was fully coloured, Amanda Holden took a piece of paper out of a second envelope, showing the same picture coloured in the same way.

Aidan later tore off his suit to reveal that he was wearing the same superhero outfit.

The pint-sized entertainer also attempted to tie some comedy into his routine as he mentioned Britain’s Got Talent judge Simon Cowell’s accident. The music mogul broke his back after falling off an electric scooter.

Showing a drawing of himself on a bike, Aidan said: ‘My bicycle — Don’t worry everybody, it’s a bit safer than Simon’s. I hope you’re feeling better, Simon.’

The judges were very impressed with Aidan’s tricks but he did not progress to the next stage of the show. He now faces a public vote in order to reach the final.

Some viewers were not happy that Aidan was not in the top three and took to social media to vent their frustrations.

One fan said: ‘The young lad magician deserved that place without question.

‘The rest of it was average.’
