MYSTIC MADGE

Candles, burning herbs and a feather – singer’s bizarre way to heal scars from op

- By Jennifer Ruby

SHE once sang about Beautiful Scars, now Madonna seems to be keen to display the not-solovely result of recent surgery.

The singer, 62, shared photographs on Instagram of what appeared to be painful medical incisions and a bandage just below her right hip.

Madonna also showed off her bizarre healing techniques in a video, surrounding herself with crystals and burning what appeared to be sage or palo santo – also known as holy wood – while meditating.

The pink-haired pop star put her hands together in prayer in front of rose quartz candles, which are said to help in ‘balancing your heart chakra’ and held a large feather, thought to be a symbol of spiritual growth, in front of her face.

She lifted her blue satin dress to reveal the scars at the top of her thigh.

She has been struggling with injuries since last year and was forced to cancel several tour dates because of the pain she was in.

Madonna had surgery and stem cell treatment in May but now appears to have had another operation.

In her Instagram post, the singer, a devotee of Kabbalah – a school of Jewish mysticism – said she was a survivor who was practising ‘meditation, incantation, salutation and affirmation’. Fans were concerned in January when she was seen using a cane to walk and pulled out of several concerts on her Madame X tour, including three London dates.

She injured herself further in February in an on-stage fall in Paris when a chair was accidentally pulled from under her.

In May she revealed she was having regenerative treatment, which includes the use of stem cells, to relieve the pain.
