WHAT TO WEAR THIS WEEKEND
COSY COMFORT
LOCKDOWN 1 saw us all in loungewear, lockdown 2 means prioritising ease and comfort once again — with the seasonal addition of cosiness. Whether you’re at home or outside, ditch the leggings and opt for chic knitwear instead. Elevate your style in one easy step by making it match. From t r acksuits to jumpers and skirts like this fitted version I’m wearing from John Lewis, it’s all about co-ordinating your woollies.
...AND SEXY TOO
KATIE HOLMES anticipated this trend a year ago, pairing a cashmere bra with a matching cardigan from little-known brand Khaite. It was a look that went viral: cool, sexy and comfortable all at once. That’s the kind of fashion that sells to women, though maybe not at over €425 for a bra. Obviously not quite the look you want for a work Zoom call, but you can style it to fit the situation. We don’t have many chances to dress up at the moment, but this is one way to tick both boxes: looking and feeling good.
NOT TOO FITTED
VOGUE recently declared this season’s cashmere dress should be ‘form fitting’, but in all honesty that’s not going to be forgiving if you over-indulge in the banana bread. So if like me, baking is your lockdown therapy, I’d go for a softer outline (but not baggy, which makes you look larger).
KEEP IT NEUTRAL
STEER clear of busy patterns and colour clashes, all- over neutrals are far more flattering. If you love cashmere, put Marks & Spencer’s tracksuit (in a choice of three colours) on your Christmas list — it washes and wears brilliantly. You could go one step further and layer a cape, like this version from Zara ( below) which has a matching merino dress, too.
