A LURCHER named Cloud has been named the Petmania Puppy of the Year 2020.

The 2020 Puppy of the Year competition received 31,051 votes from across Ireland. The competition was ruff, but Cloud was yesterday named top-dog.

She scooped up prizes worth over €1,500, including a luxury staycation at the dog-friendly Enniscoe House, Mayo, with its humans. Cloud is now the reigning champion and becomes the face of Petmania Ireland for 2020/21 and will feature in her own professional photoshoot.

Each of the finalists represented one of Petmania’s 12 pet supply shops nationwide and received a rosette and gift from the competition partner, pet food manufacturer, BETA.

Cloud’s pet-parent, Áine Ni Fhaoláin said that she is ‘an absolutely stunning little puppy and we’re thrilled to bits to have won the Puppy of the Year. She has a beautiful merle coat and amazing unique eyes’.

Cloud is a little ray of sunshine and already a social media star with her own Insta-account, www.instagram.com/cloud_ the_hound. Her special talents include receiving belly rubs, posing for the camera, and playing fetch. Áine and her partner, Daithí already had Cloud’s sibling Maya, but she was so lonely in lockdown, having to socially distance from her brother Finn, that the couple decided to adopt Cloud at the beginning of October and the two dogs are now best friends.

Emily Miller of Petmania Ireland said: “Cloud really stood out to all of the judges of this year’s Puppy of the Year. She’s a beautiful puppy who has developed the most amazing family bond with her big sister Maya and her human parents Daithí and Áine.’
