LET’S ALL GET GOBBLING...

AS most people are expecting smaller crowds around the Christmas dinner table this year, they’re ordering smaller turkeys. Unfortunately, nobody shared this news with the turkeys, who will continue growing and fattening for the next few weeks as normal, and will end up too large for many families’ needs. It’s tough on the growers, who face the prospect of being stuck with larger stock. Let us all step up to the plate, so to speak, buy the big bird and chow down on turkey pies, curries, and risottos through January. We started the season early this year – many homes have their trees up already – so why not extend it with the essential taste of Christmas right through the grimmest month of the year?
