DAILY BATHING RITUALS

I START every day with an invigorating shower, followed by a few seconds of cold water at the end. I swear by it. Then, every evening, I have a long, candle-lit bath. I use This Works Deep Sleep Bath Soak €29, boots.ie). It’s my hour of me-time and helps with my anxiety and any muscle pain, too.

TRY FLOWER ARRANGING

BEFORE lockdown, I was working at a florist, but had to stop due to Covid. I still love arranging flowers at home as I find it so relaxing. I enjoy small things, too, such as cutting the thorns off stems, or snipping the leaves off to stop them going under the water line. Most florists hate these jobs, as it’s a pain, but I find it cathartic.

MENOPAUSE-BUSTING SOUPS

WHEN I hit the menopause at 52, I had bad hot flushes. I didn’t want to take HRT, so researched natural ways to boost my oestrogen levels. Certain foods contain phyto-oestrogens, so I blitz veg such as lentils, leeks, carrots and more into soups for lunch and dinner. Plus, I have a daily spritz of BetterYou Dlux 3000 Vitamin D Oral Spray, for an immunity boost (€11.35, hollandandbarrett.ie).

HAIR THINNING TRICK

I USED to have thick hair but I’ve been losing it since the menopause. My daughter, who is a make-up artist, suggested that I try Kerastase Genesis Bain Hydra-Fortifiant Shampoo and Conditioner (both €21.95, lookfantastic.com). I also use the Kerastase Genesis Masque Reconstituant Hair Mask (€32.95) once a week. Much less falls out now.

CALMING CBD CREAM

LAST year, I tried using CBD oil drops to help with anxiety, but I didn’t like the taste. Then, one of my friends recommended CBD 300 Face And Body Cream by Chantecaille (€146, cultbeauty.com), which is infused with hemp oil, so you don’t need to ingest it. It gives my skin a slight radiance when I wake up and my anxiety is reduced.
