GREALISH ADMITS TO CARELESS DRIVING CHARGE

ASTON VILLA’S Jack Grealish has admitted careless driving in connection with a crash during March’s coronaviru­s lockdown. The 25-year-old club captain pleaded guilty to two charges, including one linked to an early-morning incident in which his £80,000 Range Rover damaged parked vehicles on March 29, six days after nationwide restrictio­ns were imposed. Two other charges which Grealish denied were dismissed.

DERBY COUNTY have appointed former manager Steve McClaren as technical director. Former England boss McClaren, 59, who had two spells as Derby manager, has returned to Pride Park following an agreement between owner Mel Morris and company Derventio Holdings, who are set to complete a takeover of the club. A statement on Derby’s website read: ‘Steve McClaren will assume the role and duties of both adviser and technical director.’ Derby chief executive

WIGAN striker Joe Garner is in talks to join Robbie Fowler’s East Bengal in India. The 32-year-old, who is the club’s top scorer with seven goals, was left out of Wigan’s side against Bristol Rovers last night. Garner is out of contract at the end of the season.

A JUDGE has ordered the arrest of former Celtic and Ireland forward Anthony Stokes. The 32-year-old was charged in April with assault causing harm to a named man in Dublin’s Temple Bar on March 16, 2019, which he denies, claiming he acted in selfdefenc­e. Stokes was scheduled to appear at Dublin District Court yesterday to have a hearing date set but neither he nor his lawyer attended.

BURNLEY have signed former Chelsea defender Richard Nartey. The 22-year-old had been released by Burton Albion.
