Boris plays the Poldark card to woo US

-

BORIS Johnson will hold June’s G7 summit in a Cornish beauty spot where Poldark was filmed to woo Joe Biden.

President-elect Biden is expected to attend along with the leaders of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the EU.

It is expected to be Mr Biden’s first foreign visit outside North America, and will be viewed as a commitment to the so-called special relationship between Britain and the US. The prime minister chose the seaside resort of Carbis Bay as the spot to urge leaders to ‘build back better’ by uniting in a green recovery from the pandemic.

Mr Johnson will also use the event to champion post-Brexit Britain as a leading nation.

He said Cornwall was at the heart of the UK’s industrial revolution with its copper and tin mines. ‘This summer, Cornwall will again be the nucleus of great global change and advancement,’ he added.
