Here’s proof United are title contenders

THIS isn’t going to feature on any list of the Premier League’s best games, but for United to leave Anfield disappointed with a 0-0 draw is telling. They’re genuine contenders now. I’m sure Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would have taken a point before the match. Anfield has an aura, especially given Liverpool’s long unbeaten run. But United had the best chances to win. For that reason this must be chalked up as a missed opportunity against a patched-up Liverpool side — but I have to credit Jordan Henderson and Fabinho for their displays at the back. Up front, though, Jurgen Klopp’s side have lost their spark and that’s worrying. Roberto Firmino is making poor decisions, while Mo Salah was scared to take on Luke Shaw. Did I think United were real contenders at the start of the season? Of course not. Do I now? Yes.
