Stack to make full recovery in Australia

- By ALAN MORRISSEY

FORMER Cork footballer Bríd Stack is expected to make a full recovery from an injury sustained in Australia yesterday. Stack was hospitalised following a collision while in action for GWS Giants in a practice match against Adelaide at the Norwood. There were initial concerns that the 11-time All-Ireland winner, who retired from inter-county action in 2019, had suffered a spinal injury but Cork LGFA subsequently posted a positive update. ‘Unfortunately, Irish recruit Bríd Stack has been taken to hospital following spinal precaution protocols after a collision in a tackle late in the fourth quarter,’ posted GWS Giants on Twitter. ‘She’s in the best possible care and we will provide a full update when we have further information.’ Meanwhile, Kilkenny star Ger Aylward has retired from the inter-county scene. Injury had lessened his involvement in recent years but he quits with two All-Ireland SHC medals, three Leinster

SHC medals as well as an All-Star award to his name. The 28-year-old Glenmore clubman featured as a substitute in the All-Ireland semi-final defeat to Waterford last month but follows teammate Paul Murphy in opting to retire.
