Pauw’s squad in position for double date

VERA PAUW will have another opportunit­y to run the rule over her squad when the Republic of Ireland take on Denmark in a friendly at Tallaght Stadium on Thursday night. With the draw for the World Cup qualifiers to take place later this month, the squad has been finalised for this latest test as well as the trip to take on Belgium at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels on Sunday. Injuries rule out Megan Campbell, Leanne Kiernan and Clare Shine, while Julie-Ann Russell and Nicole Douglas cannot travel due to Covid-19 restrictio­ns and Harriet Scott is doing exams. A number of players from the original provisiona­l list are on standby while DLR Waves goalkeeper Eve Badana will join the squad for training sessions There are also invites extended to four players — defender Florence Gamby (London Bees), midfielder­s Lily Agg (London City Lionesses) and Emily Murphy (Birmingham City), and forward Aoife Colvill (Glasgow City).
