THE FINAL RUSH TO BEAT THE DEADLINE
HUNDREDS of passengers breathed a sigh of relief as they arrived in Dublin Airport yesterday after a scramble to beat today’s mandatory hotel quarantine deadline.
From 4am, passengers arriving from the US and Canada, as well as a number of EU countries, including France, Belgium and Italy, have to spend up to two weeks at a designated hotel.
Travellers arriving at Dublin Airport’s Terminal 1 from Paris yesterday thanked their lucky stars they weren’t landed with a €1,875 bill for a 12-night quarantine in a hotel.
Those who told of their experience felt their reasons for travel were essential. Many the Irish Daily Mail spoke to were travelling due to a bereavement, while others were already vaccinated and felt they should be excluded from the mandatory quarantine rule.
