THE VACCINE ROLLOUT PLAN – AS IT CURRENTLY STANDS

-

THIS WEEKEND

THE online booking system opened at 10am yesterday, with 26,000 booking their jabs by 6pm in the evening.

First doses of Covid-19 vaccines should be given to all those 65-69-yearolds who want the jab by the middle of next month.

NEXT WEEK

THE vaccinations will start next week, descending in age beginning with 69year-olds, with all first doses being completed over a three-week cycle. This will be followed by those aged 60-64. There are 420,000 people aged

60-69 who have yet to receive the Covid vaccine.

The HSE’s CEO, Paul Reid, said he expects the vast majority of the over-70s to be fully inoculated by the end of next week.

MAY & JUNE

HSE chief Mr Reid says all high-risk people with underlying medical conditions will have the first dose of the vaccine by mid-May.

The rollout to the remaining adults aged 18-59 is scheduled to begin in early May and conclude in early June.

There are around 345,000 people in this cohort; they will be vaccinated in descending order based solely on their age.
