■ BARACK Obama had originally intended to have almost 500 guests at his 60th birthday party at the weekend, but the spread of the Delta variant put paid to that. Instead, he had to ‘scale it back’ to just ‘family and close friends’… which included rapper Jay-Z and wife Beyoncé, singers Alicia Keyes and John Legend, and actors Bradley Cooper and Tom Hanks. And naturally George and Amal Clooney, who are basically the ‘beef or salmon’ of celebrity functions, turning up on every guest list. We await, with bated breath, the publication of Katherine Zappone’s Merrion line-up – in the interests of transparency and openness, of course – to see if they were there, too: their credentials would have been spot on.
