WHAT’S FEEDING GILBERT GRIPES?

■ SPARE us the po-faced griping about the Barbie doll designed to honour Sarah Gilbert, right, the brilliant scientist who helped develop the AstraZeneca vaccine. Little girls are always going to want to play with Barbies; it doesn’t mean they want to be them but if they do, I’d rather they wanted to be Professor Gilbert, in her sensible suit and specs, than a Frozen princess. Or another selfpromoting ‘role model’, the nauseating Meghan Markle, with her plan to help women returning to the workplace by having 40 of her rich friends ‘mentor’ 40 poorer women for 40 minutes... while she trades on her husband’s title. How about having 40 of them pay a poorer woman’s childcare for a year? That would be a real help.
