Man is arrested after fatal daytime stabbing

A MAN is in custody following the fatal stabbing of another man in broad daylight during a heated row in Co. Kilkenny.

The victim, locally named as Johnny ‘Danky’ Cash, aged in his 40s, is believed to have been fatally assaulted by a person known to him on the Hebron Road in Kilkenny city at 12.45pm yesterday afternoon.

He was discovered with serious stab wounds and rushed to St Luke’s General Hospital where he died a short time later.

A man in his late 20s was arrested at the scene and is being held at Kilkenny Garda Station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

A Garda spokesman said it is appealing to any person who may have informatio­n in relation to this incident to contact them.

‘Anyone who was on the Hebron Road between 12.30pm and 1pm on Tuesday, especially road users who may have dashcam footage, is asked to contact gardaí in Kilkenny on (056) 7775000.’
