Dunne leaves IABA performance role
FORMER world super-bantamweight champion Bernard Dunne has confirmed that he has resigned from his role as the Irish Athletic Boxing Association’s (IABA) high performance director. The news wasn’t unexpected as the Dubliner had been on extended leave since the Tokyo Olympics, where Irish boxers won a gold and bronze medal. Dunne took up the role in 2017 and oversaw a difficult period in Irish boxing, as the sport recovered from the disastrous showing at the Rio Olympics and the fall-out from Billy Walsh’s departure in October 2015.
